Craig Mandel and I enjoyed yesterday's warm temperatures at the bog. On the
drive up I briefly observed a Short-eared Owl along I-35 less than a mile
south of the Pine County line, in Chisago County. This was at 7am on the
east side of the highway.

In the bog we saw some standard birds such as Great Gray Owl (1 on
McDavitt), White-winged Crossbill (3 on Admiral), Evening Grosbeak (~50 at
Mary Lou's feeders), Black-billed Magpie (1), Gray Jay (~10), and Northern
Shrike (2).

We did NOT see Pine Grosbeak, Boreal Chickadee, Northern Hawk Owl,
Rough-legged Hawk, Northern Goshawk, or Black-backed Woodpecker.

Good birding!
