At dusk last night, Least Bitterns were calling from a slough along the MN/SD
border road,
105th St (Yellow Medicine Co), roughly 1/3rd of a mile west of Sioux Nation
WMA, which is
bordered to the north by CR 5.

Last night, around 9:40, under the full moon, I heard one late Woodcock
peenting and doing a
sky dance at Prairie Marsh Farm, Lac qui Parle County, while the roadside
marshes were full of
whistling Soras.

This morning I found my first Western Kingbird, half a mile south of Prairie
Marsh Farm, by
the township substation. They’ve occupied this very specific territory for 20+
years.

Baby Killdeers are running around roadsides and golf courses.
