Lunch-hours walks continue to produce surprisingly good birding downtown, including:
Common Redpolls and 1-2 Hoary Redpolls can be fairly consistently found feeding on birch catkins in the Cancer Survivors Park, east side of Nicollet south of Washington Ave. Brown Thrasher and numerous White-throated Sparrows continue in the thick yew cover on the west side of Marquette Ave. between 1st & 2nd streets. Today, a small flock of American Robins were feeding on crab apples along Hennepin Ave. north of Washington. Both Merlin and Cooper's Hawk have been seen in this general area this week, Peregrine Falcon and Bald Eagle the previous week.
