Now that I have your attention with that subject line, the Snowy Owl I mention is in Meeker but it's dead and it's from last year. The bird was given to the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City School District for the purpose of being taxidermied and put on display in a biology classroom. Thanks to fellow teacher and King of Meeker Birding, Brad Nelson II, ACGC has obtained all the proper permits for having such a specimen, but we are looking for donations to pay for the taxidermy (a little over $500) since the school district will not pay for it.
Below is a link for this project on Donorschoose.org. Please consider donating. This would be a great way to give back to a school whose students and staff were responsible for sharing so many Snowy Owl sightings these last few years. If you got your Meeker SNOW tic in the last few years, it's probably thanks to an ACGC kid or staff member. Apparently donations will be doubled up to $50 the next 7 days if you use the code LIFTOFF. Tomorrow is Give to the Max Day too, so let's show the ACGC kids how fast we can do this! https://www.donorschoose.org/project/snowy-owl-specimen/3762701/ Thanks and good birding!
