Subject: orchard oriole

Today at 11:30am at Westwood Environmental Nature Center in St. Louis Park,
Hennepin County, i saw a first summer male orchard oriole. it was singing
full voice when it caught my attention from the many baltimore orioles
singing & showing nearby.

I observed it from about 20 feet away & saw it mostly from the underside, a
brilliant yellow with the black chin & throat. not a very good view of
wings, but could see bluish wings & white white wing bars.
i followed it for a short time, then didn’t see or hear it again, but
couldn’t spend more time looking again after that.
It was on the south side of the lake, west of the south dock of the lake
(which is named “the T Dock,” near an area not too distant, where there’s a
longish old wooden bench with short grass in front, south side of boardwalk.
a new bird for my Westwood list!
