Late this evening, I located a juvenile Sabine's Gull in Murray County on
Hwy 62, 2.5 miles west of the Cottonwood County line. It slowly made its
way east, passing over flooded ag fields and wetlands. John Hockema and I
followed the bird for a mile and eventually lost it. At that point we were
only a mile or so from Talcot Lake in Cottonwood County. We scoped the lake
from the boat landing on the south side where John was able to relocate the
Sabine's gull over the water. It eventually landed. It is more than likely
roosting there for the night, along with a couple hundred other gulls
(mostly Franklin's).
