St Paul Audubon Socy monthly programs will begin online with the September 10 
meeting--- the 2nd Thursday of each month Sept 2020 thru May 2021.  Annie 
Bracey/NRRI is scheduled to speak about different tracking technologies for 
bird movements, including dispersal and migration.  Both Carpenter Nature 
Center and Sax-Zim Bog have installed Motus towers to monitor birds.

Bird behavior tracked using Turing math models

Mathematical models developed by Alan Turing are helping scientists better 
understand the unusual habits of passerine birds such as long-tailed tits, 
which segregate themselves within their habitats, according to findings 
published in The Journal of Animal Ecology. "The field work is extremely time 
consuming and without the help of these mathematical models these behaviors 
wouldn't have been discovered," says lead study author Natasha Ellison.
