Hi Everyone, Thanks for asking about the Vadnais Lake swan. The swan's injuries are quite old unfortunately, which means we cannot repair them. Several rescue attempts had been made over the past month and the swan managed to elude every attempt. (many thanks to Terry Headley for everything she's tried to do for this swan!)
It's swimming and eating so the general consensus is to let it live out its life. We've asked people in the area to keep an eye on it and told them if it comes up on shore, is lethargic, etc., to bring it to us. We greatly appreciate people's concern for the swan and wish it was a better outcome. It’s out on the water, but staying close to shore. Anyone out there with the skill (and waders) to to help? I assume WRC in Roseville needs someone to capture the bird before they could provide care. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__lists.umn.edu_cgi-2Dbin_wa-3FSUBED1-3Dmou-2Dnet&d=DwIFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=5gIOkmnQ1nLB2gWkMnpF7Q&m=UjmSUp5r_o7Qdpsr0vyodUx5rIUhiL12Vi0lZA--ezI&s=xFLwnW-c3IO1JBmM1kD7F-phz0SfzcX8FxCrFHIPoh8&e= Archives: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__lists.umn.edu_archives_mou-2Dnet.html&d=DwIFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=5gIOkmnQ1nLB2gWkMnpF7Q&m=UjmSUp5r_o7Qdpsr0vyodUx5rIUhiL12Vi0lZA--ezI&s=CqSoGDX_yahOJFSmmcKSjJIxn-KW_l7XCm5_2k1GnpU&e= During the pandemic, the MOU encourages you to stay safe, practice social distancing, and continue to bird responsibly. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html During the pandemic, the MOU encourages you to stay safe, practice social distancing, and continue to bird responsibly.
