The >picnic area, which can be accessed via 171st Street NE, is located about 1/2 >mile east of University Avenue in Fridley. Upon seeing the bird, I called Joe >Beck, who happened to be birding nearby. He was able to see the tanager at >about 10:20 AM, and again in the same area about 12:15-12:20 PM. We both were >able to photograph the bird independently, with a couple of the photos clearly >showing that the tanager has red wings.
