Maria Kirsten photographed a Crested Caracara in Castle Danger today. It
appears to be a younger bird. All the location details I have so far are that
“it [was] along Castle Danger Road, not far from the intersection of 61.“

This would be a second state record. To my knowledge no one else has tried for
it yet.

The sighting was not posted to one of the regular bird rarity outlets I follow
(i.e. eBird, a couple of Facebook birding groups), but to a more general
Facebook group called Minnesota Naturalists. The wide distribution of bird
sightings in the era of social media is something else, isn’t it?

Good luck!
