This is the Minnesota Birding Report for January 13th, 2012.

In Duluth, that GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL is still being seen at Canal Park
but also occasionally at 27th Avenue West. The most recent report I have
is from Canal Park on January 8th. Also present were GREAT BLACK-BACKED
GULL, ICELAND GULL, THAYER'S GULL, and GLAUCOUS GULL.

On the 7th, a THAYER'S GULL and a GLAUCOUS GULL were west of the Old
Cedar Avenue Bridge in Bloomington and an ICELAND GULL was at the
western outlet to nearby Black Dog Lake.

On the 8th, Tom Bell reported a LONG-TAILED DUCK at Point Douglas Park
off U.S. Highway 10 in Washington County, just before the bridge to
Prescott, WI.

The NORTHERN HAWK OWL which was at Gooseberry Falls State Park earlier
in the month was seen on the 8th along state highway 61 about a mile and
a quarter northeast of the park entrance.

In Marshall County, Heidi Hughes reported a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE at the
Audubon Center near Warren on January 8th. The bird was near the Omdahl
House on the property. The solitaire which has been at Carpenter Nature
Center in Washington County since November 27th was seen again on
January 9th.

On the 13th, Barb Kull reported a large flock of COMMON REDPOLLS in
Isanti County which was hosting a few HOARY REDPOLLS. This was just west
of German Lake along 285th Avenue NE between Potassium and Zuni Streets.

The next scheduled update of this tape is January 19th, 2012.
