@ the 2008 International Conference on Data Mining (DMIN'08)
July 14-17, 2008, Las Vegas, USA

===========================================================

Fellow researchers and practitioners!

We invite you to participate in a special session on Data Mining for Time
Series Data at DMIN'08, the 2008 International Conference on Data Mininig,
using methods of data mining, machine learning, computational intelligence and
statistics in applications of time series forecasting, classification and
clustering.

The DMIN'08 special sessions will offer
- a set of special sessions on time series forecasting, classification and
clustering
- a time series forecasting competition for neural networks and computational
intelligence methods

But hurry! The deadline to submit your full papers for the special session is
Saturday March 15, 2008.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Session Topics
-------------------------------------------------------------------
We invite abstracts related to the theory and practice of forecasting,
classification and clustering of time series data using methods from data
mining, computational intelligence, machine learning and statistics, including
neural networks, support vector machines, decision trees, ensemble methods,
hybrid approaches etc. All contributions are welcome describing new techniques,
methods and applications in data mining. We strongly encourage submissions from
practitioners documenting applications of data mining with time series data in
practice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Forecasting Competition CfP
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition to the special session topics, we invite submissions to the NN5
time series forecasting competition (www.neural-forecasting-competition.com)
open to neural networks and all methods of computational intelligence. The 2008
NN5 competition focuses on predicting 11 or 111 daily time series of cash money
withdrawals at cash machines in England. Submissions to the NN5 competition
will also be presented in special sessions at the DMIN'08 conference and
additional conferences (including the 2008 International Symposium on
Forecasting, ISF'08, held in Nice, France, and the 2008 IEEE World Congress on
Computational Intelligence, WCCI'08, which includes the IJCNN'08, CEC'08 and
FUZZ-IEEE'08 conferences held simultaneously in Hong Kong, China). To present
NN5 prediction results each participant must submit a full paper to DMIN'08,
register for the conference and submit their predictions at the competition
website. Contestants submitting predictions are eligible to present at all
three conferences and publish in the respective proceedings. More information
and datasets may be found at the NN5 competition webpage
(www.neural-forecasting-competition.com/dmin_workshop.htm).

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Submission of Abstracts / Papers
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Prospective authors submitting papers on the DMIN'08 special session topics as
well as the NN5 competition are invited to submit their full IEEE style paper
electronically via the conference website www.dmin-2008.com/submission.htm
following the guidelines posted there. For the forecasting competition, the
paper should describe the method and modelling process applied and contain the
reference "NN5 forecasting competition" in the paper title.

Conference Information
-------------------------------------------------------------------
DMIN'08 is an internationally acclaimed conference for academics and
practitioners, held simultaneously with 24 other joint conferences as part of
the 2008 World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Applied
Computing (WORLDCOMP'08). With over 1500 attendees in the past years, WORLDCOMP
is one of the largest annual conferences and promises many opportunities to
present your work to an large, interdisciplinary audience and to extend our
professional network.

DMIN accepts only high-quality papers for its conference proceedings, which are
subject to a thorough & objective review process of at least 3 independent
reviewers. The proceedings and all accepted papers are considered for inclusion
in major database indexes (in the past 3 years these included ISI Thomson
Scientific, IEE INSPEC, DBLP and many more). The DMIN conference has been
highly ranked in the past - please do not confuse it with other
Multi-conference.

DMIN'08 offers a 4 day single-track conference, a variety of interdisciplinary
keynote speeches by world renowned scientists, special sessions and free
tutorials on various aspects of data mining and a strong social programme. In
the past, DMIN'08 has attracted over 50 high-quality presentations in 10 formal
sessions plus keynotes, posters and tutorials, with over 100 attendees plus
many more visitors from other WORLDCOMP conferences. Please consult the DMIN'08
webpages on www.dmin-2008.com for additional information.
