FDL'08

Forum on specification & Design Languages
with Industrial Workshops

September 23-25, 2008 - Stuttgart, Germany

ATTENTION!!! Advance Registration Deadline: Sept 1, 2008

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

FDL is the premier international forum to present research results,
to exchange experiences, and to learn about new trends in the
application of specification and design languages as well as of
associated design and modeling methods and tools for integrated
circuits, complex HW/SW embedded systems, and heterogeneous systems.

Modeling and specification concepts push the development of new
methodologies for design and verification to system level; thus
providing the means for model-driven design of complex information
processing systems in a variety of application domains. The aim of
FDL is to cover several related thematic areas and to give an
opportunity to gain up-to-date knowledge in this fast evolving,
essential area in system design and verification.

FDL’08 is organized around four thematic areas (TA) that cover
essential aspects of system-level design methods and tools:

* PDV TA: Property-Driven Design, Verification and Debug
* CSD TA: C/C++ Based System Design
* DCS TA: Design of Discrete and Continuous Embedded Systems
(with special emphasis on Analog/Mixed Signal aspects)
* UMES TA: UML and MDE for Embedded System Specification & Design

FDL’08 will offer embedded tutorials on Rosetta, a system specification
language with formally defined semantics, and on Gaspard2, a model driven
engineering framework for the co-design of component-based intensive
signal processing applications on multiprocessor systems-on-chips.
A panel session will illuminate the utilization of programming and
hardware description languages in test applications.

Tuesday is FDL SystemC day: An industrial workshop (see below) on
the new SystemC TLM-2.0 standard is complemented by the co-located
European SystemC Users' Group (ESCUG) meeting.

Wednesday is FDL Automotive day: A general keynote addresses formal
timing models that are being established in design processes for
automotive embedded systems. It is followed by an industrial workshop
on emerging system design and verification methods in this field.

Thursday is FDL System-on-Chip day, featuring a keynote on shaping the
Electronic System Level (ESL) ecosystem for embedded mixed signal systems
and an industrial workshop on SoC Design and Integration Standards.

INDUSTRIAL WORKSHOPS:
---------------------
As mentioned above, FDL is held with three ECSI Industrial Workshops that
cover standards and trends with current impact on industrial design flows:

* The OSCI SystemC TLM-2.0 Standard in Practice (Tuesday, September 23)
* Automotive Electronic Systems Design (Wednesday, September 24)
* SPRINT: SoC Design and Integration Standards (Thursday, September 25)

The updated workshop programme and details are on: www.ecsi.org/fdl

ESCUG Fall Meeting:
-------------------
The European SystemC User's Group (ESCUG) will meet at FDL'08
on Tuesday, September 23, 18:00-21:00.

Further Public Meetings:
------------------------
