Yes they are incompatible. This is mostly a side effect of the change in
the distribution subsystem. We had to change the version of the
marshaler which is actually the same as the one of the pickler. It
should therefore be possible to directly edit the version number in the
pickle but if possible, it's probably preferable to recompile from source.
