Hi guys,

It's not just the API who changed. Until Mozart 1.3.x, when a distributed entity presented a problem, the system raised an exception. If you were using some distributed entities to invoke code that was not aware of distribution, such an exception would break your network transparency. The exception would have had nothing to do with the behaviour of that code.

Now, when you try to use a broken distributed entity, the operation will block. There is a fault stream associate to every distributed entity. The idea is that you can monitor that fault stream in order to take a decision with that broken entity.

Another feature is that you can annotate entities before distributing them, so you can choose which kind of distributed protocol you want to use. For instance, stationary state, replicated state, mobile state, etc.

cheers
Boriss

Hmmm, I will look at this tonight. if my current packaging runs the
test suite than I will upload it to experimental. I guess you are
interested in the Distribution facilities of 1.4.0? (else, 1.3.2 would
What are those Distribution facilities in 1.4.0 that deserve special
interest (compared to 1.3 version)?
