It is a rather radical solution, but you could install some flavour of
Linux on a spare partition/virtual machine.  I can confirm 1.3.2 and
1.4.0 are both working fine in Debian (using the packages from the
Debian archive).  I used 1.3.2 for the last 3 months with no notable
problems, following CTM. 1.4.0 is new in Debian, so I have not so much
experience, but it at least starts up and performs simple functions.

Note that it is bit more work to run Oz if you are running 64 bit
linux; no idea what the situation is with Windows.
