Hi,

you could try building without documentation, i.e. configure with |--disable-doc|.
(Maybe the documentation needs some stuff from contrib, not sure.)

Alternatively, you could try the current sources of the 1.4-version from the subversion repository:

svn checkout --username mozart https://gforge.info.ucl.ac.be/svn/mozart/branches/mozart-1-4-x
(Password is "mozart", too.)

These sources built for me without problems on Debian Lenny.
