As I suppose that sol11 means Solaris 11, I'd expect the file to be a
gzip compressed package file (you may check this with the "file"
command). If my Solaris knowledge didn't leave me over the years, there
must have been a tool like "pkgadd" or the like, and if I remember
correctly, one had to submit the (maybe complete and absolute) package
file path with option "-d" - please check the man page, because it's
some time back that I used that.
