I'm breaking down and getting my mailers setup to work with S/MIME, since it's getting much wider support than PGP. I've got a Thawte cert, but am finding that messages encrypted with mutt/gpg are not readable by Netscape/Mozilla users. In trying to debug this, I tried creating a separate cert with openssl to test with, but when I try to import it, I get a complaint that it's not a pkcs12 file. It looks like openssl supports pkcs7 and pkcs8, and it looks like there's at least pkcs11 as well as 12, as well as pem and der. Reminds of the tale of the tower of Babel! So let's start with the obvious first question: how can I generate a cert to import into Mozilla? Google hasn't been much help... Thanks!
