Also, a new version of JSS 4 will be required since this will

Does this mean that jss.jar generated by JDK 1.2.2 can not be used
by an application that is running 1.4.2 ? .
if you build with an earlier JDK you can run with that JDK version
or greater. But if you build with jdk 1.4, products running JDK 1.3 or 1.2 will in most cases not run.

internally we are already building jss 4.0 with jdk 1.4
we are working on JSS 4.1 and the plan is to make JSS 4.1
official on the JSS mozilla page to be downloaded.

You can expect to see 4.1 end of april.

note: the license info for JSS has been updated.
JSS is available under the Mozilla Public License, the GNU General Public License, and the GNU Lesser General Public License.

Also , I tried building JSS3.4 with JDK 1.4 2 Build went throw fine. So where exactly will I see the failure. I have not run the tests in mozilla\security\jss\org\mozilla\jss\tests\all.pl . I will sign the jar file & run the tests.

HP-UX Itanium support for JDK started only with JDK 1.3.1 . Can I
use JDK 1.3.1 to build JSS 3.4 ?

you can use any versions of the JDK for your private builds.

Per the previous email, you need to make a bug requesting
JSS be built officially for HP-UX Itanium, if this bug is accepted
then this support will go into the next release of JSS
which is currently at 4.1 beta.
