The SSL interface of TestGtkEmbed seems broken. I downloaded Mozilla-0.9.7 and compiled it with crypto enabled (and I checked it worked). Then the compiled the TestGtkEmbed in the embedding directory, but this embedding program doesn't work with SSL. Here is the error message it produces when I tried to login into my Yahoo account:
