Netscape and IE both follow the browser paradigm which is really not appropriate for newsgroups, especially if they contain binaries of other large messages. Instead, try a dedicated newsreader program like Agent, available from http://www.forteinc.com. They also have a very good freeware version called FreeAgent and there are a few others available whose name i can't recall of the top of my head. A real newsreader doesn't start retrieving messages as soon as you click on them. Instead, you go through the list of headers and click the one(s) you're interested in. When you finish, it goes off and retrieves all the messages you selected. If it takes all night, you can go to bed and see the results in the morning
