What does .xpt mean ?

Hi, I'm new to Mozilla. What does .xpt mean (stand for) ? I noticed there're a lot of .xpt files (libraries) in mozilla dir., why they should be in .xpt ? Any documents concerning this ? Thank you for any help. Regards, Bagus
