onscreen bookmarks

In the last weeks builds the bookmarks area on the left side of the 
browser window has gone black. I have tried removing my bookmarks.html 
file so that it would build a default one to no avail. Is there a 
fix/workaround for this. I vaguely remember something like this earlier 
were a file needed to be deleted in the .mozilla directory but can't 
find/remember what it was.

Any info. would be appreciated.
