Steve Perlman’s Newest Venture Attracts Investments from America Online,
Cisco, EchoStar Communications, Mayfield, Vulcan Ventures, The Barksdale

PALO ALTO, Calif. - April 23, 2001 - Rearden Steel Technologies, Inc., a
Silicon Valley technology company developing hardware and software products
for the consumer marketplace, today announced that it has secured $67
million in Series A funding.  The group of investors led by America Online
also includes Cisco Systems, EchoStar Communications Corporation, Mayfield,
Vulcan Ventures, The Barksdale Group, The Washington Post Company and
Macromedia Ventures.  Founded by Steve Perlman, the creator of WebTV®,
Rearden Steel Technologies also announced its new board members and its
executive team.

In his most ambitious effort to date, Perlman’s latest venture is focused on
the home entertainment space, an arena in which he is known for creating
groundbreaking products that have revolutionized the industry.

Perlman and his executive team have a long history of working with the top

members which include Gary Moore, a partner at law firm Cooley Godward;

Software Engineer- Browser Applications


As a member of this development team, you'll have the opportunity to
participate in all aspects of the product development life cycle of our
cutting-edge consumer product including functional analysis, GUI design, and
application creation. You will be working alongside other senior engineers
from diverse engineering fields to build the first version of our new
mass-market consumer product for the home.
 Requirements:

·       3+ years software engineering experience working on a shipping product.
·       Significant experience developing applications with C, C++ and Perl is
required.
·       Experience with plug-in interfaces, HTTP, HTML and other web browser
related technologies
·       A thorough understanding of browsers with a specific focus on Mozilla is
highly desirable
·       Unix/Linux expertise is a plus
·       B.S. or C.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree is required
·       An enthusiastic work ethic is appreciated
