All I want is for looping animations to not loop...
(Actually, if I could make animations go away
entirely and just display the first frame, I'd
be a happy man.)
(If there's a more appropriate ng for this question,
just point me in that direction, or set followups.
I looked quickly on news.mozilla.org and didn't see
any groups that seemed like they would specialise
in user preferences...)
I'm one of those people who took a hex editor to my Nav4
netscape.exe and altered the string "NETSCAPE2.0" so the
looping animations would stop looping, because I can't
stand them. After a minute or so they drive me to turn
off image loading and clear my cache, or just use a
different browser. Anyway...
I can't find that string in Netscape 6.1 PR1 or in recent
Mozilla milestone releases (e.g., 0.9.2). I saw something
in the release notes to the effect that it was now possible
to kill the looping animations, but I can't find anything
about that in the preferences dialogues, and, worse, since
I can't find the "NETSCAPE2.0" string (presumably it's not
in plain text) I can't kill them the unofficial way either.
What obvious thing am I missing? How can I make the
looping animations desist?
