Where is Mozilla supposed to cache the gif ? On the other hand AFAIK in IE You just can turn off Disk-Cache (But i may be wrong, seldom using this). Of course this is inefficient, this is the reason why you have cache in the first place; just don't turn it off at least the Memory-Cache ;-)
