plugin for Mozilla, although the Java JRE does install one for Netscape
6.x. I've played around with this problem quite a bit -- downloading
different JREs from 1.3.1 right through to the latest 1.4.0 -- and
actually the solution is quite simple. Here's what you do:

If you have Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime v. 1.3.0_02:

Find the DLL file NPOJI600.dll. If installed in the default location, it
should be in C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_02\bin\, but will vary
if you installed it in a different location. Copy this file to your
Mozilla plugins folder. Restart Mozilla.

If you have Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime, version 1.4.0:

... Exactly the same, except the DLL in this instance is NPOJI610.dll

CAUTION: Don't muck about with useragent override or anything like that
before you do this (that's for fooling sites into thinking you're using
MSIE 5.0, etc.) This will also fool the plugin, and it'll crash Mozilla.

BTW, I got a lot of help in figuring out the Mozilla/Java plugin
conundrum from Newzilla. Every Mozilla fan should bookmark this site:

The exact Newzilla page with the Java plugin advice can be found at:
