how to get rid of 'my sidebar' in mail & news

why does this 'my sidebar' comes up everytime I open 'mail & news'?
it can be disabled in the browser, but not in mail & news.
or am I overseeing this feature somewhere?

but I have to say that Mozilla rulez! I like the pop/news/smtp account 
features!
