After a time-out you can collapse the server's tree at the
top, wait a few seconds, then re-expand it and you shouldn't
have to enter with the pw again. The problem is that the
message you were trying to read when you found that it timed
out will be lost forever, and when I asked here if there was
any way to get to it no one could find a way.
