Can Mozilla support 3rd party authentication schemes?

I am posting this question here after being advised to do so from the
.security NG.

First off, is support for Compuserve's "Remote-Passphrase"
authentication scheme removed completely?
Next, if we wish to add support for our own HTTP authentication scheme,
how would that be accomplished? Can HTTP authentication scheme modules
be configured with Seamonkey?
