Hello,

The default owner of "Networking" is being changed to a new email
address as part of a pilot run of changing the way bug ownership works
in mozilla.org.

The details are in:

http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120481

This has actually been in discussion by various parties (engineering,
QA, and mozilla.org) for a long time, and was supposed to happen a while
ago (but was held up because getting Mozilla 0.9.8 was more important).

I've also discussed this with several (but not all) of the big time and
effort contributors in the various Networking components. (Part of the
problem that this attempts to solve, actually, is that there is no
really easy way to get in touch with the major contributors without
reading a ton of bugs and making a list by hand).

A couple key points:

   1. This is a test. Please try to make it work, we gave this a lot of
thought before making the change. If it sucks, we will go back to
      the status quo.
   2. If you were using "users to watch" with "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
because you wanted to look at incoming network bugs, you need to
      update your preferences.
   3. Bug mail is only for new bugs, e.g. subjects that look like:
[Bug 121532] *New: *Mozilla hangs during ftp download
You need to add yourself to the cc list if you want to keep
      getting updates.
   4. The "packetgram" email address is *meaningless. *Since I proposed
this and we needed a real email address, I donated one from my
mail domain. "mozilla" and "netscape" addresses were not
      considered appropriate at this time.

If possible, please keep the bug focused on key points (so it is
readable), and keep discussion-style comments (esp. questions) in this
newsgroup.
