i've just landed the patch for HTTP/1.1 pipelining on the trunk (see bug 93054). the feature is by default disabled, but i'm hoping that people will enable it and try it out. if all goes well, we might be able to enable it by default (perhaps with workarounds for servers that don't implement the standard correctly).
