HardDrake suggested that I send you this information. It is with regard to a Promise IDE controller (PCI based). I ran out of room on the motherboard IDE controller so installed the Promise card to support a new hard drive.
The controller works quite well in Linux; I've never had a problem. However, HardDrake misclassifies it under "Other Devices" rather than an IDE controller. Here is the info page from HardDrake.
