You quit mozilla *after* you edited the file? That's wrong; as the
message you are replying to quoted from the 0.9.2 release notes:

Emphasis on "while Mozilla is not running".

Mozilla overwrites the prefs file on *exit*, so any changes you make
while it is running will be lost.

(this is a FAQ by the way - is there a FAQ for these groups? Should this
question be added to it?)
