If this thread does not belong in this group, please let me know, and I
will post it to the correct one!
I'm using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130.
The problem is as follows: our IT guys have just installed new proxy
software (Proxy-Pro Gatekeeper). Company rules require that one uses it
so that internet sessions can be logged. However, one needs to logon to
the proxy before it will process a transaction, and Mozilla doesn't seem
to support proxy authentication! It does support proxies (which I have
correctly filled in) but not autheticating to the proxy!
The only tool I have that works through the proxy is "wget", and that is
because wget supports a proxy password and username that it faithfully
sends with each transaction (how I haven't bothered to find out).
How do I get Mozilla to send my username and password to the proxy
sserver?! Or is there perhaps a small linux service that will act on
behalf of any client trying to use the internet (like the windows client
supplied with Proxy-Pro, "GKAccess")?
Better yet, is there a recommended proxy package (NT based) that
supports browser-based logins... like Novell's proxy software - it has a
client for windows machines, but also accepts a login via one's browser
(https).
All help appreciated!
