Tried uninstalling NS 7.2 and re-installing - no improvement.

Tried copying any security looking files from another NS 7.2
install - no help.

Tried un-sharing the tree it was in - no change.

This are the messages I get when tryin to go to a secure site :

"You cannot connect to x.y.z because SSL is disabled"

"Could not initialize the browser's security component. The most likely cause
is problems with files in your browser's profile directory. Please check that
this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or
close to full. It is recommended that you exit the browser and fix the problem.
If you continue to use this browser session, you might see incorrect browser
behaviour when accessing security features."

There is over 100MB of free space on the profile directory drive.

It's really nice of them not to tell you which file might be the
culprit here.

---------------------------------------

Fixed! I saved all of the profile dir files in another dir and blew
them away in the profile dir (except the obvious ones like history
and address book files) and it started working (of course I had
to redo all my preferences etc). So no telling what file was bad, I
assume it was one of these that was re-created (but could be one that
was removed and not re-created) :

93447453.s
XUL.mfl
bookmarks.html
cert8.db
history.dat
history.mab
key3.db
localstore.rdf
netscapetoolbar.rdf
panacea.dat
panels.rdf
prefs.js

I probably should have tried them one at a time, but maybe the next guy
can figure it out.
