Since you know the toplevel page that you are loading, in the onStateChange() would it be possible for you to compare the embedded page url via the DOMWindow with the top level window's url. And if the url is not the one you are looking for ignore the download.
As I said, it is just a thought, and I am expecting someone more knowledgeable to answer you.
