I think the question was about the size on disk, not the dimensions...
I'd try the memory cache instead of the disk cache for SSL pages. But
maybe the easier way would be to make another request for the image URL
and check nsIChannel.contentLength.
Fixing followup-to, this has nothing to do with xpcom itself.
