Hello,

Here's my situation. I wrote a 'hello world' extension for firefox
using xpcom c++. My javascript and xul files for the extension work
great already but when I install the xll and xpt, firefox crashes
during start up. from my 'view' it's during xpcom component
initalization.

now i created .a files using dlltool and dllwrap from the .lib's that
come with the gecko sdk. i'm also using the 'free' msvc compiler from
microsoft in conjunction with scons. while i'm not sure if that's an
issue i do an an /implib during build time when it tries to link my
.a's into the implementation dll.

i thought that was a problem but now i'm not so sure.

I followed most of the tutorials out there and dumped my dll and my
xpt files into the "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components"
directory. ran regxpcom - to be short i followed almost everything on
these web sites:

http://www.iosart.com/firefox/siteleds/main.html
http://www.iosart.com/firefox/xpcom/

any help figuring out why this is happening would be appreciated. i'll
try not to cross post but this could be a build issue. i'm coming to
the xpcom email list b/c i feel that it's more of a registration
problem and not a build problem.

but the tutorials are supposedly solid.

chris
