I have an XPI file that will check to see if an ActiveX control of
mine is currently installed and is given permission to run in
ActiveX.js. My question is that I have a verisign certificate for the
ActiveX control in which I sign a cab file. Can I use the same
certificate to sign the xpi file. If so how? If not then what do I
need to do to get my xpi file signed.

Thanks,

You will be able to sign an XPI file soon. The next release of NSS will have a new -X option for XPI files. I can provide you with a beta binary of signtool with the new option. I submitted the patch for this new option after finding out there was no easy way to do it. You can check out my Al Bhed Translator extension at my site http://www.j-maxx.net that is signed with my works code signing cert that we use for cab files.

I am also working up some tutorials that will be up on my site within the week the deal with signing XPI files.
