|         I grabbed Sprenger's smsPitchScale.cp from

| and wrapped a bit of support code around it.  This program will change
the
| pitch of an audio file - this means you can play it back so that talking
is
| twice as fast but *at the same pitch*  i.e. the talkers don't end up like
| chipmunks, they just sound like they're rushing.  (I also found it can be
used
| to convincingly change a speaker's gender).

This kind of frequency multiplying is done by simple balanced ring
modulator, where both inputs have the same signal.

If you done it in DSP, you will get excellent results than in analog
electronics due non-linear characteristics of diodes.
