When I encode with -V9 --lowpass 19.5 I get a *higher* average bit rate than when I omit the --lowpass. That's very counterintuitive, and I wonder if there's a bug.
I'm using LAME 3.91. (And I have no experience with LAME, I've always used mp3enc in the past.) I've tried this on two different songs. By the way, it would be great if every option could be both enabled and disabled from the command line, so that presets could be partially undone. There doesn't appear to be any way to disable the --lowpass and -Z options.
