Dear all, We have been working on benchmarks to compare the performance and PVFS2 and our LSFS-PVFS2 code for a long time. According to our experience, only mpi-tile-io and noncontig benchmark works with PVFS2, as well as LSFS-PVFS2. Other benchmarks such as b_eff_io, pio-bench seems not working smoothly with PVFS2. The reason, however, is unclear to me.
We have also tried mpiBLAST-pio for several days, and can't get it to work. According to a discuss in mpiblast mail list (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00086.html) , mpiblast-pio only works with a old version of ncbi, which is released in Oct 2004. But I simply failed to compile ncbi itself, no matter with or without patching for mpiblast-pio. At current stage, my understanding is that mpi-tile-io and noncontig alone are not comprehensive enough for justifying the performance gain of LSFS-PVFS2 over PVFS2. In other words, we need more benchmarks/parallel I/O applications to justify our LSFS performance. Since you are experts in parallel I/O benchmarking, would you please provide me with a workable list of benchmarks or applications (together with the system configurations) that runs on top of PVFS2?
