I think nails with higher values also fails. TG mentioned something on
the gmp list about a total rewrite of the affected function, but maybe
we should just not allow any higher nail values. It seems to me that
there is little benefit here anyway on modern CPUs, but maybe I just
don't recall the discussion too much :)

Nothing I am aware of from my end. I build Sage with eMPIRe of various
recent checkouts on 64 bit Linux on x86-64 as well as a 64 bit Sage on
OSX 10.5 and there were no problems related to eMPIRe. I also did
valgrind all the tests and aside from some small issues in one of the
C++ wrapper tests everything is clean. We need to change some of the
doctests in Sage due to different, but mathematically identical
results for xgcd being returned, but that is fine with me and William
has looked over all the changes and told me off list that things are
good.

Mariah has also set up some bits for the build bot and the SiCortex
machine is finally back online. So we can certainly do some build
testing and as planned Sage will switch to eMPIRe in 3.4 (planned in
about two weeks) unless something else pops up.

Cheers,

Michael
