Autotools doesn't do this.  It would obviously be very hard to work
around all the bugs in GCC (and other software!), of which only a small
number would harm any particular application.

I think autotools is more about checking for missing features than
checking for bugs.  If some particular bug is very common, it might work
around that.  For example, it does work around various shell bugs in
autoconf scripts.
