Part of the problem with this issue, David, especially schools, is in this
day and age to be against the referendum on schools is like being against God
and motherhood. However, I have to say that I am against the one on schools.
When the first one came up I questioned some of the school board members at
a joint appearance and I didn't feel they gave me very good answers, however,
being the good "little" resident that I am, I voted for it because I felt it
was "my duty." Not any more. Unless it has completely slipped by me, I have
not seen any evidence that school test scores have improved and that students
are any better off.
The libraries are another story, but with the heavy duty taxes we already
have in the city, I'm not sure my bank account can handle one more "special
tax."
