GIS Expo! Thursday, Nov. 30, from 1-3 pm at the Carlson School of Management, room 2-228. This workshop will discuss and present how community-based organizations are developing and using GIS (Geographic Information Systems, i.e., computer generated maps and spatial analysis) to further their work. Great strides have been made in community organization access to property information in St. Paul through the Ramsey County Users Group. The St. Paul Community GIS Consortium, with fourteen member organizations, has joined the User Group and leveraged resources to increase their GIS capacity. Twin Cities universities and colleges have provided resources, through student research assistants and course-based projects, to partner with the Consortium and other Twin Cities community organizations to develop community GIS capacity. This will be a great session to expand your understanding of GIS and its possibilities. It is specifically focused on urban applications of GIS and neighborhood uses of GIS mapping and analysis. Students and faculty will also be learn about how GIS is being used by community organizations and new research and project opportunities. Bring staff/colleagues and community volunteers. We look forward to seeing you there!! Please RSVP to H-MARC at 651-644-0065 or email - [EMAIL PROTECTED]
