On-street parking: I checked the meters on Riverside Avenue, and they are
only enforced until 6:00, so you if you're lucky enough to find a spot, you
can park free. The side streets are mostly one-hour parking, but I think
that is only enforced until 6:00. I would check the signs carefully,
however.
Ramps and lots: The U of M 19th Avenue lot (entrance on north/west side of
Riverside just past the alternative health place that used to be the
Triangle Bar) is free after 8:00 PM. I don't know how they work it if you
arrive before 8:00 and leave after, but I suspect that you'd end up paying
for a whole hour if you arrive at 7:30. There is surface lot with an
entrance just north of the ramp entrance that is generally OK (I don't know
what the evening rates are). The lot on the South/East side of Riverside
(just north of the Hard Times Cafe) allegedly tows sometimes even when the
victim has paid and should be avoided.
Will someone bring purple balloons so that I know which table of
disreputable-looking characters to approach at the Viking?
