Jesse's Transportation Commissioner El Tinklenberg yesterday said the
four-year total reconstruction of the Portland-to-Penn part of Crosstown
will move ahead, largely because of prior agreements with Minneapolis (and
Richfield). In effect, he's blaming the city for the traffic headaches to
come. Yet I have heard no one from the city weigh in on this.

Do city officials regard a presidential term's worth of Minneapolis traffic
nightmares as an inevitable consequence of their agreement with the state?
Or do they think Tinklenberg is using Minneapolis as a fall guy? And if so,
is there pressure that city government can put on MnDOT to mollify
construction effects, or re-do the "agreement" that has led to the scary
detour prospects in the south part of the city?

Rep. Dibble? (though I know Speaker Sviggum screwed you out of a
transportation committee slot!) Any Council members or city legislators who
are list members?
